Sensitive Betty

Awwww, maybe Betty does have a soft and sensitive spot for Copper after all! That's so nice. Perhaps you should consider volunteering Betty in the hospital animal therapy program... ya, no.
Another quiet day at home. Didn't sleep too well last night, but Noé slept in until almost 8am!!! So I got a few more hours sleep this morning. Rainy day here, so I brought Noé over to the daycare. Since the younger kids were sleeping, the older ones were starting to do a craft project. It's actually pretty impressive, really. Sylvie, for all that she was unorganized and chaotic in the beginning, seems to have really figured things out. Don't get me wrong, the place is still utter chaos, but still, she gets them doing little projects, singing songs and learning colours, numbers and letters! Those kids sure seem to have fun. You should have seen how excited everyone was when Noé arrived this morning. Everyone shouting and giving each other hugs and kisses. You would have thought they hadn't seen each other for months, and yet it was only yesterday afternoon... Noé's little friend Sami is going to do a trial week at Sylvie's starting on Monday. Samira has been having a really hard time finding a daycare that will take Sami/that will put up with Samira's demands and/or that Samira will accept. The last place that Sami was at, even after 2 months, he would put on the brakes and have huge crying fits every morning when Samira would drop him off. Pretty unusual for a 2 - 3 year old. So, she's going to try Sylvie. The advice I gave Samira is not to iron Sami's clothes (!?!?!? who does that !?!?!) for daycare next week, because they will be a/painted on, b/lost or c/ripped. I told her to swallow her pride and get a weeks worth of clothes at Vallue Village for next week and to save his Gap Kids and Zara clothes for the weekend. So I guess we will have to see how Samira manages (cause I'm pretty sure Sami will be just fine!)

Cat Germs

Undoubtedly because we are monitoring him more closely these days, Mom & I are noticing a couple of changes in Copper's behavior. For example, it seems that Betty wants to be close to Cu. more than normal. We see her often curled-up right beside him when he's laying about, and he seems to be laying about more than normal too. So, Ya, she'll find him in his basket or on the rug in front of the fire and she'll just go and lay down beside him. Maybe she did that before, but Copper used to jump up immediately and leave, as if to say "Eeeyu, Cat Germs!" Perhaps now he's just to tired & sore to care about Cat Germs. He is more tired & sore for sure. He sleeps noticeably more and when he crawls out of his basket, he has a bit of trouble getting his hind-end to follow. He also seems to have trouble sitting, doesn't want to do a proper "sit-up" any more, not even for a treat. Remember he used to often "sit-up" just in case someone might have a treat. He still likes going for walks, forgets about the soreness and goes out fox-chasing. (for 4 hours yesterday) It's natural and he "must" do it, but it's not good for his arthritis. His back legs get quite stiff after a run like that. He still has a good appetite, but he is drinking more water. So we'll keep doing what he loves and continue to keep a close eye on our Copper.

uh, ya. Hopefully my baby won't take after his grandparents in the looks department!

So, I'm 1 cm dilated!!! Very exciting, although technically it still doesn't mean anything. I could deliver tonight or in a few weeks. So, I guess I really have nothing to report.

Day 2 of my mat leave... this is great! Noé and I both slept in until 7:30 this morning!!! I slept for a record 10 hours last night - incredible!!!! I know, I know, this isn't going to repeat itself for a very very long time. But boy do I feel good today! 48 hour labour, months of sleepless nights, bring it on!!
Those are some cool halloween costumes! Very imaginative. Way better than all the Walmart costumes I saw Sunday night! We had about 20 kids come to the door Sunday night. Noé held the huge bowl of treats as I scooped chocolat bars into the bags. At first he was very excited and ran to the door with the bowl of treats. But then a older kid with a very scary mask came to the door. Noé took one look at him then slowly backed away with the bowl of treats. It was very cute! After that, he was a little afraid every time the doorbell rang.
We had a great visit yesterday at my old teammates house. We used to be three agents working on the old funding program (PCAPC) that was cut when Noé was born. Shannon had another baby last May, Marie-Noëlle just received a little boy through adoption and then me. So we are all off on leave. We are going to try to get together for PCAPC playdates!
I like the gift exchange idea. I haven't even started thinking about Christmas... but I guess I should get on it before this baby comes. So what do you want for Christmas mom???
