Gypsy the water dog!
Well, Gypsy and I took full advantage of the +28 sunny weather this past week by spending the day at the beach. I tell yas, Gypsy is a natural swimmer!!! She did not hesitate to follow me right into the ocean!!
She is such a good dog, today I told her "go piddle way in the back!" and she did!! All on her own!! She has been very easy to train so far...

cute pup!
That's great Michelle! I love that you will have the dog. My kids will visit get their fill, then we won't need a dog anymore! She is adorable. Love the picture with the boot!
So far we are having a great time out at Marsh Lake. Noe especially! He loves walking with Copper and sliding down the hill Dad made in front of the cabin. I'M just glad I get to catch the occasional nap and sleepin when mom takes my kids! It's great! Today I went to town for pedis, lunch with Joella and a haircut with Marta. She talked alot about you Michelle, and says Hi!

A couple corrections to the last post...
Gypsy is 10 weeks, and to complete the sentence following the bit about Gyspy loving kids; Nick and I are prudent to ensure Gypsy is constantly subjected to kids.

The Cape Breton Gypsy
Well, we've done it. We got a dog. And in true Michelle fashion, I waited to get the pup without telling anyone in fear of judgement, then sprung the news on you with lots of really cute of pics to win your hearts.
Now before going on about what a bad idea this was (Pa), know that she has enriched my life beyond what I ever expected. Sure, she's a ton of work, but Gypsy has given me a such a sense of responsibility and joy. I think you get to a certain point in your life where you're much more interested in putting your energy into something beyond yourself.
I now imagine what it is somewhat like to have a baby. We get up numerous times through the night to take Gypsy out to 'piddle in the backyard" and we celebrate when she sleeps beyond her typical 2 hour intervals. When I finally get her to sleep, I get after Nick for being too loud in fear he might wake her. We must alway be aware of her whereabouts, if not, she's snuck away to chew or pee on something she knows she shouldn't. When she's in her kennel for her nap, that's the window to get things done like shower, wash dishes and write blogs. Yes, she is a handful, but she has an awesome demeanor. Nick and I really lucked out on this one! She is very quiet and calm, only yelping when she wants out of her kennel. She is very smart, at 10 months already knows the commands sit and laydown. She loves being outside, so she's a great excuse to get me out walking everyday. She loves Gordie... but unfortunately he despises her. She's had a few good scratches to the nose now. Most importantly she LOVES kids.. can't get enough of them!! Nick and I are
Nick's parents and Cathy have already volunteered to look after Gypsy, so when we do travel she will always have a place to stay.
Gypsy was born in St. Peters, Cape Breton on January 7th to a Chocolate and Black lab. Her mother the black) was a small lab, while her father quite large, so time will tell what size of dog we end up with. I noticed that her paw prints are already larger than Copper's. I hold her tons because I know one day she will be much too big to fit in my arms. She likes to give kisses when I hold her.
So there you have it. A new addition that will be apart of our family for many years. I know there will be bad days, but Gypsy has brought a lot of purpose to mine and Nick's life. Trust me, once you meet her she too will bring a huge smile to your face!

Home Improvement?
I'm on a roll! Here's some pics of our renos. As you can see, it's a work in progress. We've been living in a construction zone for about a month now. We did all new flooring in nice wide oak plank. "Wire-brushed oak in Hazelnut finish" to be precise. I'm super happy with it. Looks nice and feels good on the feet. Now we are doing baseboards. You can see in the 3rd picture how each baseboard is actually made up of 5 pieces. Pieces that must be individually sanded, stained, assembled, cut, nailed and finished. Ridiculous! But I swear Jay lives for this kind of thing.
The last shot is the fireplace in progress. Jay's dad is taking on that project. Nice wood mantle and reclaimed brick will be the finished result.
Now you guys just have to visit me once in a while to see for yourselves!... But maybe give us some time to finish it up first.
