Taping Begins

Hi Kids
Mom showed the house this morning to some folks who just transferred in from Ottawa, and she has received an offer! Ya, so that is going pretty good, she & Mouse had planned for an add to go in the paper starting tomorrow I think. Hmm, may not need it.
At the lake, the taping (Gyp-roc joint filling) has finally begun, started at noon today.
Um, it's windy & rainy. Peanut arrives today on the noon flight...
So, lots goin' on.
Love to all

bye bye house

So this is it! I am at mom's school, drafting up a realtor's fiche so that we have all the essential info to give to potential buyers. We are ready to go! Dad is picking up a "House for sale" sign on the way home today and then there is no turning back. I was checking out MLS and Property Guys. Really not much on the market in Riverdale right now, nothing comparable to this one, anyhow. Either, really crappy old trailer type houses or super duper renovated mansions. So I guess we will see. Also, Garage sale date is set and will be advertised in the Yukon News over the coming two weeks. We will be in Clean Sweep mode and ruthless! EVERYTHING MUST GO!!!

On a brighter note: we have started picking out flooring (hard wood and ceramic tile) for the new place as well as some paint colours. We are thinking of a sagey green for the main part of the house. Perhaps a rasberry red in the upstairs bedroom? Whoa!!

There are loaders, dump trucks, gravel and sticks everywhere - Noe is in heaven.

Happy St. Jean Baptiste Day!!

Well I get a few lovely little short weeks coming up here!  It all starts with the this rainy Quebec holiday!  I am focusing on cleaning my room up today and then I have assigned the bathroom to my roommate to do tomorrow and I am finally going to tackle the kitchen and floors again... My friend Rob is moving in on Sunday with a bunch of furniture and stuff, so I want the place to be spick and span!!

So I officially have my ticket booked for the train to Toronto! I get there late on the 2nd and leave on the 6th.  too bad Krista ain't gonna be around!!! it will be a good visit though... plenty of time to chill out at the cottage! I think Andrew is arranging a special pick up for me at the train station cuz he might be working when i get in... he called it a "white taxi"... then clarified that he will be sending a police car to pick me up... hahaha!! Who'd of thunk?!?  My first ride in a cop car and I'm not even getting arrested!!  The irony is delicious!  I'm like, "Do I sit in the front or the back seat??"

Anyhow, I am having a lot of fun at work these days!  I keep getting good reviews!  They listened in on a few of my phone calls without me knowing and gave me a QA review... I got 100%!!! I'm good on the phone i guess... and then my productivity goal was finally hit too!  and we had a team meeting the other day and i pretty took over leading it from my more timid and unassertive team lead.... haha!! made some good social decisions to get people from the office to go for drinks together!  They just started training me and one other "verifications" guy in "references".... (i think they picked us two because we are two of the best!!) haha!! all the others on my team are jealous... but anyways, I am now calling people and getting really detailed references on behalf of our clients!  It's kinda intense! especially nursing references... sheesh! watch out merty!! they are REALLY extensive!!

Anyways, off to clean my room and get ready for the show tonight!  My friends and new roommate are playing a show at the bars tonight... should be fun!!!

Merty, I am trying to get the 13th to the 2oth of August off to go see you and ticky!  I'll keep you posted! And you should talk to Krista about the beginning of August cottage partay!!! yip! yip!

Love ya!!

It's so weird cuz it happened right when i was on lunch and eating in a little sandwich shop... and i didn't even feel it! But EVERYONE in my office did!  It was the talk of the town today, here in Montreal! Apparently it was a 5.5 on the Richter scale and city hall in Ottawa shattered!  IT's epicenter was just north of Ottawa... NutS!!

Holy Smokes!

Just got home and was relaxing in the apartment... it's another wet wednesday so our mountain biking plans were called off yet again. So I was just hanging out, watchin Oprah, then SHAKY, SHAKY, SHAKE! an earthquake happened! I was trying to remember what to do: Stop, drop and roll? Evacuate? Get under a doorway? But mostly I just ran around the apartment screaming. But I survived!
Let's see if J-L felt it in Montreal...

Happy Fathers Day, Ol' Dad!!

Hey family!

Dano here! I did that "Something crazy" thing here today!!  Please refer to the picture... hehehe!!! I love it!! the pic's don't do it justice.  It is all 3 dimensional so it looks like the stone is resting on my arm... It's a necklace I got in South America.  It's called a Chakana.  It is an all encompassing Inca symbol.  It was derived from the southern crux, the most predominant constellation in the southern hemisphere. It represents a compass, (like my foot tattoo!) and a calender, with Noe's birthday being represented by the top section! The three tiers represent the upper, middle and under world... (The condor, the Puma and the Snake)... the horizontal and vertical lines represent man and woman... What I appreciate most of it is the 4 Inca laws it holds... (in the 4 sections) - Don't lie, don't cheat, don't steal and don't be lazy.  I guess what it means most to me is the place where I got the necklace, Cuzco, Peru after climbing Machu Pichu... and the place I am at now.. a new me! and new phase of my life... starting to know myself and be happy with myself and stuff... thought I'd celebrate with a new tattoo!!! yay!!!

Too busy to take pictures

Hey family, a weary but satisfied Krista signing on. Just drove in from the cottage this morning and made it to work with 2 minutes to spare! It was a "work weekend" up at the cottage, as we wanted to get lots done since it will be at least 5 weeks until we'll be back between a bike race, Yukon trip and friends' parties. And did we ever work! We built recycling bins complete with shingled roof to match the woodmill, painted the bedroom and completely unjunked the sawmill building. Doesnt sound like much, but let me tell you. 30 years of stuff adds up. J's dad is worse than you Dad for "collecting" stuff. On a related note, do you know what porcupine shit looks like? I do.
We finished off the weekend with a visit from the cottage neighbours who happens to be a bit of a celebrity. Girls, you will appreciate this. Remember that scene from "Adventures in Babysitting" where they take the guy with the knife to the toe injury to the hospital and the doctory tells them them, (thick Indian accent) "I'm bery sorry, your friend is dead." It was the doctor! hahaha!
Gotta get to work here. Luv ya!

Nicole, we will have to chat about my camping trip this Friday over lunch!! I think after we do lunch, Kim and I are going to go down to St. Denis and hang... I really need a summer purse and some sandals... But i still might be down with going to have a sleep over in the burbs on Friday too!! We'll keep in touch this week about it.

I think I might do something crazy this Friday!!  : )

Dano

great pictures!

Nicole here. It looks like you had a great weekend Danielle. Funny name for the place, Little Green Devil! I think JL and I will keep this in mind if we try to go camping, the cottage looks like a good compromise with kids and all. Did you bring the stove and water and everything? Michelle, that's a beautiful picture. Did you sing at the wedding? Looks like you were part of the lounge act.
We had a busy weekend visiting. Noé went to a birthday party on Saturday then we had friends over on Sunday. Noé is really shy around strangers, it's quite funny. He just sits in his little spot and watches all the action going on around him. When they brought out the birthday cake, he nearly lost his mind, though. That's when he got into the party mood. Shouted along with the other kids "ga - teau! ga - teau! ga - teau!" Now, when I sit him down for dinner, that's all he wants!

And here are just a couple more of the weekend's festivities!

I was on Fire and Dish Washing duties...

Look mom!! I even rinsed!

Mother Hubbards

Hi Family!!!

Well, Nick and I are all settled out here In Hubbards, unfortunately we haven't been able to enjoy the beach as the rain has been relentless. I enjoy the half hour drive into work. I sip on my coffee to-go and listen to CBC radio 2. It's a real meditation process. I give myself ample time so even if I'm stuck in traffic I'm not cursing the world. Really, the only stressful part of driving is if you're late and stuck in a long line of traffic.

I've been a preceptor for LPN students for the past couple weeks, I enjoy it, I think it gives me some good street cred. too. I'm really enjoying work. My nurse manager told me that I'll most likely be moved to the Hubbards area for work sometime this summer... that means going for a quick swim at the beach for lunch breaks!!!

PS Great photo eh? My friend Aynsley took this without me knowing at Natasha's wedding. So artsy.

Hey family!

I just got in from an amazing weekend retreat with Kim in the country.  We went to "Diable Vert" and stayed in a cottage for a couple of nights.  It was a failry wet and gloomy weekend too, so good thing we had the cottage!! We had a blast though.  We ate well and drank well too! ; )

Went for a big hike in the woods and just soaked up all the nature we could!  The fireflys were amazing!! We built some fires and just... hung out...

I found out that I have quite a bit of time off coming up, so I'm hoping to be able to have more weekends like this to come!

Love ya lots!

Next time you build a house, you can get Noé to help!

He's loving his tools. Gathers them all up, sets up the object that needs a "fixit!" as he says and the hunkers down on the ground and gets to work. He stays like this for well, a good 15-20 minutes, which is a lot!! Fixin whatever throughout the house!

Done Boarding!

Hi Kids
Hey, we installed the LAST piece of Gyproc yesterday! I'll try attaching a pic of Andrew screwing it on. This morning I'm waiting for the "tapers" (a couple of hillbilly lookin' dudes that will fill all the joints) to arrive, and get them started. They charge $1.00 per square foot of Gyproc that we purchased. (Not installed but purchased!) That works out to $8300. oo Considering we threw-out about 2000 sq. ft. in off-cuts... Geeze! You understand why I was trying to get the guys to use up some of the "bigger pieces". Then painting... same price, buck-a-foot. So in the end, that works out to about $40.00 for each 4 foot chunk that we took to the dump.
"So you wanna build your house yourself you say, hmm, better double the price!"
Love to all.
Ole Dad

Hang in there Gramma!

My last staff meeting ever!!!!!

It's Tues. and I'm tired and my face/teeth hurt and I need to finish my report cards and I have to plan for tomorrow and I'm allergic to the yellow stuff floating around and I miss dad, but other than that life is good. Looking forward to Nicole and Noe coming soon. I love the little messages he leaves for me on the phone. What a nice thing to go home after a long day at school. So glad to hear everything is fine with our baby girl Emma Meelan or Meelan Emma. Boys always think toilet humor is soooooo funny. Thanks for the long phone call, Krista. I haven't touched base with you for a while, Danielle. I hope I have a life when school comes to an end. There are so many loose ends to tie up here before I can walk away. Hope Michelle's move went okay and she comes on line soon. Take good care, love you lots, Mom

bun in the oven

Just got back from my doctor's apointment. All is well in the baby making department. (This is Nicole, by the way) I could hear the heartbeat loud and clear and fast. It's so amazing to hear it!! All blood tests and urine tests and other misc tests(?!?!) are showing a healthy baby and pregnancy. I'm starting to feel little movements, I'm pretty sure its the baby, although Jean-Louis would agree that I am way more gassy these days. He's afraid I will be a bad influence on Noé (who of course thinks it's hilarious to make farting sounds). Ahhh, twos, here we come. Noé is officially a bad sleeper again. I'm starting to rethink the whole big kid bed idea. What will I do when I no longer have a place to trap him? Can I tie him to the bed? How come they don't mention that solution in the sleep training books?
